Subject: 1945 78 rpm record

The actual first release on Manor, announced in Billboard on February 3, 1945. The brief Milt Page entry at jazzdisco.org places the date of recording at "ca. December 1944." The label is still showing a Newark address; later in 1945 it had an office in New York City. This is a very early recording of legendary bassist Oscar Pettiford, who died in 1960.
